Nassau is the capital of Bahamas. It lies on the island of New Providence, with neighboring Paradise Island accessible via Nassau Harbor bridges. A popular cruise-ship stop, the city has a hilly landscape and is known for beaches as well as its offshore coral reefs, popular for diving and snorkeling.

It retains many of its typical pastel-colored British colonial buildings, like the pink-hued Government House. I had the opportunity to visit this mesmerizing place on 15th Jan 2017 .

It was a 2 days berthing(Berth is the term used in ports and harbors for a designated location where a vessel may be moored, usually for the purposes of loading and unloading. Berths are designated by the management of a facility (e.g., port authority, harbor master). Vessels are assigned to berths by these authorities.

After finishing my work on board I was set and excited  to see the crystal clear water and the beauty of this place. I was given an early off from my second engineer to go and roam around the place so after having lunch and packing some eateries(As the price of the food is quite high in Bahamas) ,me,deck cadet and chief cook went out to roam .A tug boat which was arranged by the company came to pick us up.

Our itinerary comprised of going to Clifton heritage park and jaws beach ,Because we had to return to our vessel till 8 pm. So, we had around 7-8 hours in our hands. As soon as we got down from our tug boat we had our cab waiting which was again arranged by our company ,The cab dropped us at Clifton heritage park ,This was the view from the cliff of the ocean

We reached The Clifton heritage national park around 1’o clock in the afternoon. We got the tour with shared bus lunch and Snorkel in 25$ each which is around(1500 INR), You can also rent ATV bikes for whole day and roam around the whole area all by yourself If you are not concerned about the budget.

As, you know we Indians are budget friendly peoples so we didn’t rented that and sat on shared bus ,And our tour started It was about part of the Lucayan history,The ruins and the stuff takes you back to the 12th century passing each century on the way.The tour was the walk way of the ruins. The guide who sat with us seemed very knowledgeable.

The snorkeling was the very best I had ever seen in my life, And we had a lot of hours in the water!!

The 20 feet tall sunken ocean atlas is stunning and a 6 feet Virtusu statue presence can’t be denied.A crystal clear water with beautiful coral reefs,After this we had our lunch on the picnic table at the beach ,After this park tour we head towards the jaws beach .

This beach had crystal clear water which i had never experienced before .You can actually see the fishes moving near your legs.

lovely beach with breath taking view ,Especially when you walk a little to the left .Small line of sand very clean and soft. One thing I must mention which I got to know from the locals that if you visit the island during the winter time like we visited the jaws beach will have calmer and warmer water compared to other beaches. It is shielded from the winds since it is in the lagoon.

This ended our first day itinerary .This was really an Unforgetable 8 hours of my life .The views, the water, the breeze everything is awesome about this place.

Our next day was nothing but just about the roaming and shopping in the streets of Nassau. The shoppers here should feel disappointed because of the rates here.

On 17th of Jan we left this beautiful ,mesmerizing and unforgetable place.

A must visit place on earth.

In the last section I am going to add some helpful views regarding your trip to Bahamas if you are planning the trip from India.

First thing is that you should book your flight Atleast 3 months before the date you plan your visit to Bahamas, Because the airfare from India if quite high .

But still if you plan it a great way to could cost cut it and enjoy your trip without extra burden on your pockets.I would recommend to book your flights from

The average flight price will range from 80-85K INR for one adult return journey.

I would suggest you to book everything online before you arrive in Bahamas because carrying cash will be very hectic because there are very few Atm’s around the city.

There are quite a few adventures and snorkeling activities which you can book online ranging from 15-18K INR per person per activity.

Hotels here are very expensive but this can also be made cost friendly if you visit the place nearer to off season.

The best months to visit and explore Bahamas is from November to mid April ,Hurricane season lasts from July to October so do avoid visiting Bahamas especially during this season .

As, you know sharing  means spreading knowledge and love.

Keep spreading knowledge and keep loving.
